Proposals fall into one of two categories:
1.
Proposals which DO NOT use Human test subjects
(HTS)
- Proposals are not accepted for vertebrate animals - if you
are interested in an invertebrate proposal, please see the information
given under administrative requirements.
- You will be asked on your submission if your experiment is a free float. Your experiment is a free float if it does
not stay bolted/strapped to the floor during flight.
Examples:
- An experiment tethered to the floor that will "float
up" during reduced gravity is considered a free float.
- An experiment that will be held and released during reduced
gravity is a free float.
- If you are going to float something that will remain contained inside an apparatus that has been secured to the aircraft, it is NOT a free float.

2.

- Definition of
Research Involving Human Testing: Research is Human Subject

- blood pressure
- heart rate
- serum creatinine level
- eye movement

As you can see, we are not just talking about experimenting on a human subject, but we also include observing a human reaction. |
